Yemeni Sidr Leaf Powder — leaves only, shade-dried, finely milled. A single-ingredient botanical used for generations across the Middle East as a traditional hair and scalp wash.

What Makes This Different

  • Yemeni origin — the regional benchmark for Sidr, grown in high-altitude areas
  • Leaves only — no stems or twigs milled in to add weight
  • Shade-dried — preserves the natural green-brown colour that heat drying destroys
  • Finely milled — forms a smooth, slightly slippery paste rather than staying gritty
  • One ingredient — no fillers, clay, fragrance, or additives

Sidr powder varies widely in quality, and the differences are not obvious from a photograph. Our guide explains exactly what to check: How to Choose Authentic Sidr Powder.

A Traditional Middle Eastern Ingredient

Sidr comes from the leaves of the Ziziphus spina-christi tree, which holds deep cultural significance across Yemen, the Levant, and the Arabian Peninsula. The leaves are dried and milled into a fine powder traditionally used as a natural hair and scalp wash.

These are traditional and cultural practices and should not be interpreted as medical evidence or a guarantee of specific results.

How It Is Traditionally Used

  • Hair wash: Mix with warm water into a smooth paste, apply to a damp scalp first, then work through the lengths. Leave 20–30 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
  • Skin mask: Blend with honey or yogurt, apply, and rinse gently.

Sidr does not lather — it contains no surfactants. The absence of foam is normal and expected.

Rinse more thoroughly than feels necessary; under-rinsing is the most common complaint with any plant powder.

Why Quality Varies So Much

Three factors separate good Sidr from poor:

  • Drying method. Shade-dried leaves keep their colour and character; sun-dried or heat-dried leaves fade to grey or khaki.
  • Leaves vs stems. Cheaper products mill stems and twigs in with the leaves — more weight, coarser texture, less of what you actually want.
  • Origin. Yemeni Sidr has been the regional reference for generations, and supply is limited and hand-processed.

This is why price varies widely, and why very cheap Sidr is usually stem-heavy or heat-dried.
