Why MELevant Exists

MELevant exists to make Middle Eastern products easier to find internationally without separating them from the knowledge that gives them meaning.

Based in Amman, Jordan, we work from inside the region our collection represents. Middle East Group LLC was established in the United States to support an international ecommerce business, while the products themselves ship from here to customers in the United States, Europe, and around the world.

From traditional botanicals and Arabic fragrance to incense, foods, and cultural goods, the aim is the same: keep the product connected to the knowledge that belongs with it.

The Name

Middle East + Levant.

The name reflects the region MELevant represents.

The Region Is Not an Abstraction

Sidr, Ithmid, bakhoor, Kamah truffle water, frankincense: each belongs to a vocabulary, a place, and a way of being understood.

A product can cross a border with its name intact and still lose part of what that name means.

What Can Disappear in Translation

Some things travel badly.

A powder can keep its familiar name while losing the details of how it was prepared. A resin can arrive described simply by colour, while the distinctions used to understand it locally disappear. And an Arabic term with a specific meaning can become something much broader once translated into English.

Those details affect how a product is understood. Our work is to give them room, explain them clearly, and keep the context attached to the product.

Selection Before Scale

We select. We do not stock for the sake of range.

The collection grows deliberately. Size is not the aim.

Some products we search for are never added because we do not find a version we are prepared to put the MELevant name beside.

Tradition Without Exaggeration

Tradition deserves context, not exaggeration.

We distinguish between traditional or cultural use and health claims. The first belongs in the record of how people have known, prepared, named, or used something over time. We do not turn that history into promises about outcomes.

That restraint shapes how we describe products and how we write our guides.

For Those Who Know, and Those Learning

Some readers recognise these products immediately: the scent of bakhoor before a family gathering, a jar kept in a grandmother’s kitchen, an ingredient not seen since leaving home.

Others arrive with no reference point at all.

We write for both. Our guides cover ingredients, origins, preparation methods, terminology, and cultural traditions because understanding what something is, and where it belongs, should not require guesswork.

As MELevant expands, the standard holds: explain what matters, avoid claims a product cannot carry, and let the collection grow at a deliberate pace.

From Amman, we present the region’s products so that people who already know them can recognise what matters, while those discovering them can understand where to begin.
